Portugal digital nomad visa (D8) from Dubai

The Portugal digital nomad visa (D8) from Dubai lets you keep your remote job or freelance clients and move your life to Portugal. It is Europe's flagship digital-nomad route, with residency, family inclusion, and a 5-year path to permanent residency eligibility. “D8” is the market's name for it: Portugal's own visa portal publishes this route as the residency visa for the exercise of a professional activity done remotely.

You enter on the D8, then convert it to a residence permit at your AIMA appointment. It is a residence permit route from day one, not a temporary stay visa. IFICI (NHR 2.0) tax incentives may apply to qualifying professionals, and we assess this in your consultation. Compare routes on our Portugal Residency page.

Why Portugal: fast fibre, coworking culture and Europe's largest nomad community in Lisbon, Porto and Madeira, travel across 29 Schengen countries, family included with income thresholds adjusted per member, SNS public healthcare, and international schooling.
